Wahlap’s Storm Racer 2 Now Available In North America

Revealed earlier this year and also seen at IAAPA 2025, we have confirmation that Wahlap’s Storm Racer 2 is now available in North America. Quick background and the deeper details right afterwards.

Background

In case you missed the news on this game, or aren’t familiar with the series, let’s get up to speed (so to speak). The first time we got to see Storm Racer was at IAAPA 2011, and three years later, Sega released an upgraded version called Storm Racer G. It was earlier this year at the GTI Asia China Expo that we learned that it would be getting a sequel, developed by the rising stars at 3MindWave (of Sega Amusements’ ATV Slam, Apex Rebels, VR Agent and Alpha Ops VR Strike fame). This eschewed the dual-screen format that has become popular since Raw Thrills debuted that with Fast & Furious Arcade, in favor of using a giant 85″ 4K screen that is vertically mounted; it also uses a camera and has a motion seat.

Storm Racer 2 Releases In North America

When the game was announced at GTI Asia China, and that it would be making an appearance at IAAPA 2025, it was unclear who exactly would be selling it in North America. That is because it was only found at the Wahlap booth, and not at any partner manufacturer (like when Sega sold Storm Racer G) or distributor. When I met with Wahlap at the show, they stated that Betson would be carrying it, but when I asked a Betson representative, they hadn’t been filled in on the details yet; then afterwards Wahlap confirmed in an email that Betson had a “non-exclusive deal” to sell the game into the region here. On top of that, news just came along that Amusement Source International, who has sold some Wahlap product into NA before, will also be carrying the game. I’m not sure what the price difference will be – Wahlap quoted a price that I couldn’t believe (massively below any other racer on the market – it was a price I would have expected on a game before 2021), but I don’t know that these distribution networks will sell it at that price. They don’t publish prices these days, so you’ll have to contact each to find out.
